Feeding Finn has been far easier than I anticipated it would be and I'm so thankful. Matt has snapped a few pictures of me and my little nursling, but I wanted to do something a little more deliberate to remember this season of our lives. Enter Karissa, friend and birth photographer extraordinaire. She took photos when both of the boys were born and when Ezra was nursing, too. I knew she would be willing to do it again, even at six months pregnant with her toddler in tow, and especially if I bribed her with tacos. Pregnant ladies love tacos. Heck, who doesn't love tacos? Anyway, we spent about an hour in Providence to get these shots. Matt kept Ezra and Zekiah occupied and Finn basically refused to nurse because he wanted to play with the boys and/or smile at Karissa and random passersby. Still, I love these pictures and am so glad I'll always have them to help me remember this time. Thanks so much, Karissa! I promise we'll get tacos if the Taqueria is ever actually open.

beautifully breastfed
Last Friday I mentioned that my friend Karissa was doing a shoot (inspired by these images) for me over the weekend. Apparently she is the speediest photo editor out there which was wonderful to find out because that meant I got to see the images super soon. I love them so much and wanted to share them with you.
We used Saturday's picnic location, Crescent Park, for the shoot. There was a little beach and acres of grass complete with park benches and shady trees.
Ezra wasn't the most cooperative subject because we were near the water and he absolutely loves water. That means that he was constantly unlatching and attempting to squirm off my lap to get closer to Narragansett Bay.
Karissa snapped away for the few moments I was able to distract him from the water lapping at the seaweed covered shore.
There are no words for how beautiful I think the above image is. It's definitely my favorite of the bunch.
I'm sure Karissa will have a blog post of her own up soon so check out klm photography for more images!

more milk
One of my favorite treats lately are lactation cookies, something I had never heard of until I visited my friend Keri of Quaint and Quirky who was a few weeks postpartum and baking them. Yes, she was baking when her daughter was only a few weeks old. I was inspired. However, if you don't have time to bake them yourself then buy yourself a few bags of milkmakers and eat up. They're full of oats, brewer's yeast, and flax seed - all galactagogues, which are substances that promote lactation. Or try yummy mummy cookies which contain about a zillion good-for-you-and-baby ingredients, too. If you're really ambitious postpartum then whip up a few batches of this recipe from epicurious and let me know how they taste. All I can say that a cookie that increases milk production just can't be bad!
