What's better than a surprise bouquet of tulips from one's husband on a blustery evening?  

Enjoying them for two weeks until all the petals fall off and still look pretty strewn across the table.

Four Months!

Yesterday Ezra celebrated his four month anniversary of being an earthling.  He's doing a pretty good job being an Earth citizen - eating, growing, practicing mini push-ups, smiling and laughing a lot, socializing with his many toys (Ladybug, Mr. Crinklepants the Elephant, and Rat are favorites), and chatting up the ladies, Sophie and Fiona especially.

Ezra discovered that his month number was removable and peeled it off his onesie almost as soon as I put it on.

Now for the monthly stuffed animal shots.  When I sat Ezra next to his aardvark he grabbed it and immediately started chewing its ear.

Do aardvarks even have ears?  Apparently they do.

Sitting for more than three minutes became too much for Ezra so he toppled into the arm of the glider.  Please note the sock lines around his legs.

Back to eating the aardvark's ears.  I think Aardvark needs a name.  Any suggestions?

Once again, I can't resist commenting on Ezra's growth!  (See months 1, 2, and 3.) The gorilla is slowing being squeezed out as there is only room for Uglydoll, Ezra, and Aardvark to sit against the back of the glider.

Ezra has progressed from ear chewing to snout licking.  I would imagine corduroy is an interesting texture to taste.

an unconventional love letter

This was my Valentine's Day gift to Matt.  I had intentions of embroidering a line from Corelli's Mandolin that my sister-in-law read at our wedding ("Those that truly love have roots that grow towards each other underground and when all the pretty blossoms have fallen from their branches they find that they are one tree and not two.") but I got through the first word and promptly ripped it out.  Way too time consuming for a gift that needed to be completed in less than seven hours.  Instead I went with the simplest of sentiments and a hot pink heart.  I almost wanted to leave it blank because I loved my fabric paper so much.  

If you love it, too, I have good news - I opened an etsy store, the tiny hummingbird shop,  where you can buy your very own stitched love letter.  I'm thinking of offering variations as well, like initials (TC + MC = [heart], perhaps?) and names - "Ezra Raphael Celeste" with "11-01-10" underneath, for example.  Much more to come!  Look for quilts, all manner of banners and bunting, and, of course, stitched love letters.
