free and calendar in the same sentence

I don't know about you but I love calendars and planners, basically because I love to keep track of appointments, birthdays, holidays, and anything else that can be marked on a day at a specific time.  Red Stamp is making it easy to watch the days go by with their free printable calendars.  That's right.  I said free and calendars in the same sentence.  It's music to my ears.

Layer Cake Quilt

This is a quilt that I made for myself out of fabric that my mom gave me for Christmas... last year.  When I received the layer cake of Lila Tueller's Santorini for Moda I immediately knew I wanted to make a quilt with it and started searching Moda Bake Shop for ideas.  I chose this pattern and worked on it over the course of a couple weeks whenever I had time.

I chose a solid brown snuggly fabric for the back and quilted simple lines all over.

I love the polka dot binding!

I love the look of the floral prints that resemble stained glass.  Usually the quilts I make are for someone else, but for once I'm going to keep one.

eight months

We're rewinding again, this time to eight months, which was at the end of September.  Matt and I took a ride to Bristol this time and walked around for the day, checking out all the little shops.  We took photos along the way...

Ezra's first encounter with a jack-o-lantern

Thanks to Matt for putting up with me each month as I dragged him around Rhode Island.  Those of you who know him know it's a pretty big deal just to get him to leave Cranston.  He was a good sport each month as I thought of locations for our shoots, and I'm glad we have the photos he took to remember my pregnancy with Ezra.  

the first day of his life

In honor of the New Year and the new beginnings it represents for so many people, here is the best new beginning that Matt and I were given in 2010.  Matt recorded the events immediately after Ezra's birth with our Kodak Zi8 (which he affectionately named Zeke) and then turned the footage into a movie for our parents for Christmas.  Matt's parents got one featuring them and my parents got this version.  You'll see photos of my mom, dad (unfortunately, the one without a head), and brother all holding Ezra when he was less than a day old.    Every time I watch it I have to make sure I have a box of Kleenex handy, or at least that I'm wearing long sleeves.  

I'm so glad we have such a great record of our little guy's entrance into the world.  We have lots of photos, too, courtesy of our friend Karissa of klm photography.  I'll be sharing those as soon as I get my head wrapped around the whole birth thing.  We'll see how long that takes...
