drink your fruit | smoothies in the morning

Lately we've been having lots of smoothies for breakfast. They're one of summer's perfect foods - cool, refreshing, healthy, and quick to whip up! Plus you can use tons of fresh produce from the local farmers market. We like them chock full of fruit and yogurt, and sometimes with a big dollop of peanut butter. The one pictured up above is strawberry peach - I used about a cup of plain whole milk Greek yogurt, a handful of frozen strawberries, and one sliced fresh peach. Here are two more of my favorites...

To make this peanut butter banana smoothie, start with a cup of plain whole milk Greek yogurt and add one ripe banana and a couple tablespoons of peanut butter. If you're feeling crazy add some chocolate chips!
This last one is a combination of raspberry and blueberry. Just like the others, use a cup of plain whole milk Greek yogurt and add a handful of fresh raspberries and a handful of frozen blueberries. Blend and drink up!

Do you have a favorite combination?

  1. I've been obsessed with making a pumpkin pie smoothie with frozen pumpkin puree, almond or soy milk, apple pieces, oatmeal, cinnamon and nutmeg. YUM.

  3. I'm on a fruit cleanse right now and have been chugging smoothies like it's no body's business. My favourite this weekend was mango, blueberries, strawberries and almond milk. Nom! I also went to a restaurant that put granola in their smoothies. Now that is genius
