Laura's Shower

A couple of weeks ago I helped out with a bridal shower for a dear friend who I've known since the first grade.  Laura and her fiancé are getting married on August 28th and her mother and future mother-in-law planned a lovely bridal shower in her honor.  Guests were greeted by jars filled with peach iced tea and strawberry basil lemonade.
Laura's future sister-in-law, Ed's cousin Irina, and I put together some centerpieces of wildflowers gathered in mason jars and tin cans.  I loved the bright greens, blues, and yellows against the white Queen Anne's lace.
Laura's sisters gathered tons of old photos of Laura and Ed when they were little as well as lots of pictures of them together (insert plug for husband here: some of them taken by Matt of blueflash).
All the guests were treated to a meal prepared by Ed's mother and aunts who will also be cooking for the entire wedding of over 200 people!  This small shower was nothing for these ladies.  After Laura finished opening her gifts, guests were given the option of taking home a jar of brownie mix, wild mushroom soup, or beef barley soup.  I stayed late to help clean up and scored one of each!
The day was a beautiful celebration of Laura and Ed's love for each other and their families' love for them.  Best wishes, Laura & Ed!
